Knightsbridge Enters Top 10 in NTRA Weekly Poll

Godolphin's Knightsbridge moved into the top 10 in the National Thoroughbred Racing Association's Top Thoroughbred Poll released July 28, following the retirement of multiple grade 1 winner Journalism. The national media poll previews the leading contenders for each season's Horse of the Year title. Knightsbridge rebounded from a second-place finish behind Nysos in the Metropolitan Handicap (G1) to win the Monmouth Cup Stakes (G3) July 18 by 10 1/4 lengths for trainer Bill Mott. Journalism entered the top 10 last week after a win in the San Diego Handicap (G2), where he overcame a troubled start to win by three-quarters of a length. Coolmore America announced the son of Curlin's retirement July 24, following an injury sustained leaving the starting gate in the San Diego Handicap. Stephen Foster Stakes (G1) winner Magnitude remained at the top for the fifth week in a row, earning 26 of 27 first-place votes and 269 points overall. Met Mile winner Nysos received one first-place vote and remains an unchanged second with 237 total votes. Book'em Danno moved into the sixth spot after his win in the July 17 Mr. Prospector Stakes at Monmouth Park.
