Australian Oaks Runner-Up Profoundly Leads Inglis Sale

Australian Oaks (G1) placegetter Profoundly topped the Inglis Digital Australia August (Late) Online Sale Aug. 26, when selling to Boomer Bloodstock for AU$360,000 (US$258,264, AU$1=US$0.72) The mare was offered by her trainer Michael Freedman on behalf of her owners and was purchased by Boomer Bloodstock's Craig Rounsefell for client Peter Murray. "Peter is building a very strong, young, boutique broodmare band at Three Bridges and Profoundly fits the mold perfectly for what he is looking for,'' Rounsefell said. "We thought she was very fairly valued at AU$360,000, that's about where we thought she would land, and sometimes the cards fall your way, and they certainly did today.'' The sale's second-top lot was another 4-year-old mare in Eyes Of Blue, who realized AU$235,000 to the bid of Reg Ryan. A sister to dual stakes-winning sprinter Bridal Waltz (AUS), Eyes Of Blue was offered by renowned breeders the Pope family. Ryan confirmed the mare would visit Ole Kirk (AUS) this spring, a stallion he owns a share in. Third-top lot honors were shared between racehorses Without Parallel and No Friends, both selling for AU$165,000. In all, there were six lots to realize AU$100,000 or more in the August (Late) sale, including Fire Star selling to David Pfieffer for AU$140,000 and Avengers realizing AU$120,000 to the bid of the Executive Racing Club. In total, the sale grossed AU$3,551,400 (US$2,547,774). Entries are now open for the Inglis Digital Australia September (Early) Sale, which will run from Sept. 4-9.
