Luv Your Neighbor Will Be Tested in Charles Town Oaks

Lael Stables' Luv Your Neighbor brings a formidable résumé to the Aug. 28 Charles Town Oaks (G2), where she is the deserving 8-5 morning-line favorite due to a previous win and three placings in graded stakes. The sophomore daughter of Constitution has only finished off the board one time out of nine career starts, and she's not been worse than third at all so far this year. She comes into the race off a 1 1/4-length win in the June 13 Delaware Oaks (G3). Luv Your Neighbor is an Ontario-bred, who Anderson Farms co-bred and raised before selling her to Roy and Gretchen Jackson's Lael Stables for $350,000 during the 2024 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. At 2, she won her racing debut and then ran unplaced in the Glorious Song Stakes in her second start on the all-weather main track at Woodbine. She ended her juvenile campaign with a second by a head in the Untapable Stakes at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots. At 3, trainer Michael Stidham continued to watch her be competitive in graded stakes with close runner-up finishes in Rachel Alexandra Stakes (G2) and Eight Belles Stakes (G2) and a third in the Fair Grounds Oaks (G2). She finally landed that elusive graded win in the Delaware Oaks. To date, Luv Your Neighbor has a 2-5-1 record from nine starts and earned $474,271. She will be ridden by Luis Saez and break from post 5. Undefeated Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races-based At a Premium looks as though she may give Luv Your Neighbor all she can handle in the 7-furlong Charles Town Oaks. The Great Notion homebred for Jill Daniel, who races with Michael Miller, has won her four career starts this year by an average of more than 10 lengths. The West Virginia-bred won her debut March 26 by 13 1/2 lengths, and she comes into the Oaks off a front-running victory in the 7-furlong Sylvia Bishop Memorial Stakes that she won by 8 1/4 lengths. At a Premium is trained by David Walters and will be ridden by Jeiron Barbosa who has been her regular rider. They will break from the outside post 9. Other notable competitors include Coteau Grove Farms' homebred Little Miss Curlin, a daughter of Charlatan, who had a four-race winning streak in Louisiana Oct. 22, 2025, through Jan. 3, that included her maiden win and three state-bred stakes. She ran third in the May 15 Miss Preakness Stakes (G3) and comes into the Oaks off an allowance-level win at Evangeline Downs. Little Miss Curlin is trained by Patrick Devereux Jr. and will be ridden by Jareth Loveberry from post 7. Also in the field is Florida-bred Tessellate, a daughter of McKinzie bred by Tim O'Donohue's Castle Gate Farm, who races the filly with six other partners. She is trained by Saffie Joseph Jr. and is a grade 3-placed, two-time stakes winner this year. She ran second in the Miss Preakness. Paco Lopez has the mount and will be breaking from post 1.
