Oxbow Sold, Relocated to Breakway Farm in Indiana

American classic winner Oxbow has been sold and will be standing next year at Breakway Farm in Indiana, the farm announced through social media Oct. 13. The 16-year-old son of Awesome Again will stand for $2,000. Oxbow won the 2013 Preakness Stakes (G1) and gave the late Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas his 14th win in a classic race, breaking the record he held with the great "Sunny Jim" Fitzsimmons. The Preakness win gave owner Calumet Farm its eighth Preakness win. He remained among the top of his 3-year-old class with a second in the Belmont Stakes (G1) and retired with more than $1.2 million in earnings. As a stallion, Oxbow has sired 255 winners. His top performers include 17 black-type winners, of which seven are graded stakes winners. Hot Rod Charlie, who won the 2021 Pennsylvania Derby (G1) and ran second in the Kentucky Derby (G1) and Belmont Stakes, is the sire's best runner to date with nearly $6 million in earnings. Oxbow's other graded stakes winners are 2024 Golden Shaheen (G1) winner Tuz, Coach Rocks, Happy Jack, Hopeful Treasure, Rondure, and Oxy Lady. Oxbow entered stud at Taylor Made Stallions and then relocated Calumet Farm for the 2015 season. Calumet sold the stallion recently to bloodstock agent Austin Nicks. Colts Neck Stables bred Oxbow out of the Cee's Tizzy mare Tizamazing, who is a full sister to dual Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) winner and 2000 Horse of the Year Tiznow; grade 1-placed, multiple graded stakes winner Budroyale; grade 2 winner Tizdubai; and, stakes winner Tizbud. Breakway Farm, near Dillsboro, Ind., has 10 stallions on its roster now. The others are Bango, Bolzy, Boptrot, Charming Kitten, Forever d'Oro, Hog Creek Hustle, Maximum Security, Necker Island, and Unbridled Express.
