Dotsy Out of Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies
Trainer John Grabowski said the morning of Oct. 23 that Dotsy would miss the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) Oct. 30 at Keeneland. The 2-year-old filly by Tacitus breezed Oct. 21 going 4 furlongs in an easy :48 1/5 at Keeneland. Grabowski said he did not like the way she came out of her breeze Thursday morning. He noted that the filly was fine, but would receive some time off to grow up and be a horse. Dotsy broke her maiden on debut Aug. 26 at Saratoga Race Course by an impressive 4 lengths. She returned Oct. 3 to win the Frizette Stakes (G1) at Belmont Park by 2 3/4 lengths. This week she was pre-entered in the Juvenile Fillies. Grabowski purchased Dotsy as a yearling for TSP Enterprises for $37,000 at last year's Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearlings Sale. Grabowski was a jockey for many years in New York, winning 3,401 races with earnings of more than $28 million. One of the most notable horses he ever rode was 1988 New York champion 2-year-old filly and Finger Lakes Hall of Famer Proud Puppy. The filly won the Lady Finger Stakes by 10 lengths and beat the boys in the New York Breeders' Futurity that year. Dotsy was Grabowski's first graded stakes winner as a trainer. "I'm very thankful for the Breeders' Cup experience and I look forward to her 3-year-old year," he said.
