Arabian Knight Top First-Crop Sire by Number Cataloged
First-crop weanling sire Arabian Knight will have the strongest representation of his sire class during the upcoming November sales at Keeneland and Fasig-Tipton. The grade 1-winning son of Uncle Mo has 53 weanlings cataloged in the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale and three entered in Fasig-Tipton's The November Sale, excluding outs. Additionally, his progeny will have the highest representation in Book 1 (four) and Book 2 (29) at the Keeneland sale. Arabian Knight sired 205 foals in his first crop, which is not only the largest in his sire class, but also the largest crop among all North American sires for 2026. Standing at Hill 'n' Dale at Xalapa, he attracted a solid group of mares for his initial book in 2025 that possessed a collective 1.85 Comparable Index and 2.40 Class Performance Index. The CI and CPI are both earnings-based ratios. The CI indicates the quality of runners out of the mares bred to Arabian Knight but by other sires, while the CPI indicates the relative quality of the mares as racehorses. Arabian Knight has the fourth-highest CI for this first book behind National Treasure (1.99), Weyburn (1.89), and Prince of Monaco (1.86); and, the third-highest CPI behind National Treasure (2.99) and Cogburn (2.54). In terms of general market interest, National Treasure and Arabian Knight were their sire class' leaders by average as covering sires in 2025, with 18 mares bred to National Treasure averaging $166,389 and 32 mares bred to Arabian Knight averaging $163,875. Spendthrift Farm's National Treasure and fellow first-crop weanling sire Dornoch led the sire class by initial-year stud fee at $40,000, followed by Gainesway's Muth at $35,000, and Arabian Knight, Cogburn, Domestic Product, Prince of Monaco, and Seize the Grey all entering stud at $30,000. National Treasure and Dornoch earned their place at the top by initial stud fee as classic winners, with National Treasure (Quality Road) winning the 2023 Preakness Stakes (G1) and Dornoch winning the 2024 Belmont Stakes (G1). National Treasure, who sired 153 first-crop foals, has three cataloged in Fasig-Tipton's The November Sale and 30 cataloged in the Keeneland November sale. Dornoch, a Good Magic full brother to 2023 Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Mage, has two cataloged at Fasig-Tipton and 13 with Keeneland. With 92 foals in his first crop, Dornoch ranks seventh in the sire class by CI (1.63) and 11th by CPI (1.90). Claiborne Farm's Prince of Monaco (Speightstown) has the highest representation at the Fasig-Tipton sale with six cataloged, followed by Ashford Stud's Domestic Product (Practical Joke) with four. Domestic Product also has the second-most cataloged at Keeneland with 42; Prince of Monaco has 36.
