Old Gold Racing Syndicate Expands to Australia

Old Gold Racing, the horse racing syndicate company that has enjoyed group 1 success in the UK, has expanded its operation to Australia with the launch of its first horse Down Under. Named Mullins, in honour of legendary Irish trainer Willie Mullins, the two-year-old colt by Toronado was purchased for A$200,000 by leading Australian trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, with whom he is now in training. The exciting addition to the Old Gold Racing portfolio has already attracted some notable names, with award-winning broadcaster Nick Luck, Classic-winning trainer Hugo Palmer and Willie Mullins himself all investing in the horse. There is currently 25% of Mullins available to Old Gold Racing members, with 325 shares priced at £325 each. The syndicate term runs until 31st December 2027, offering members the opportunity to follow their horse's journey on the Australian racing scene. Speaking to Old Gold Racing, Nick Luck said: "I'm excited to have Old Gold on board with a leg in this horse. There are some household names in this, including a certain Willie Mullins. "By Toronado out of a mare, Polska, who has produced three black type-winning two-year-olds. He's got more than just precocity about him, this horse. He's got a real bit of scope, he's got a beautiful action. "He's surprised us with how forward he is. We didn't want to get ahead of ourselves. We gave him a little bit of a spell just to strengthen a little bit, but he's not far off his first barrier trial. "It's so exciting to have this yearling Down Under, and it's exciting to have Old Gold members involved in it too." Legendary Australian trainer Gai Waterhouse added: "I get very excited when I come across a really cool, smooth colt, and this is exactly what Mullins is. I love when a horse is healthy and his coat is like satin, and he is exactly that. He is so shiny and so smooth. "He's a very masculine colt without being stupid or silly. He's very focused in his work, and he's a very good size. That's what we need in Australia, and in Australia most of our races are up to a mile, so we need speed. We need horses that are precocious. He is a horse that will certainly be fun for the next couple of years." Old Gold Racing's Chief Executive Officer, Ed Seyfried, added: "Australia has one of the great racing cultures in the world, and I've wanted Old Gold Racing to be part of it for some time. We've enjoyed some wonderful success in Britain, but there's no reason why our members shouldn't also experience the thrill of racehorse ownership on the other side of the world. "Mullins is a particularly exciting horse with which to start. He's beautifully bred, he's in the hands of two of Australia's finest trainers in Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, and there's something rather special about having Willie Mullins himself involved in a horse named after him, alongside Nick Luck and Hugo Palmer. "Above all, this is what Old Gold Racing is about. Opening up opportunities that most racing enthusiasts might never otherwise have, and allowing them to become genuinely involved in the sport they love." Shares in Mullins are available through Old Gold Racing, with 325 shares priced at £325 each. The syndicate term runs until 31st December 2027. Visit the Old Gold Racing website for more information.
