Cool Enough became the first winner for first-crop sire Tamarkuz  when she led throughout on her way to a 5 1/4-length score in a $20,600 maiden claiming race at Colonial Downs Aug. 5.

Dropped in class after going unplaced in a pair of maiden special weight contests at Churchill Downs and Keeneland, the 2-year-old filly relished easier company and defeated five rivals in a race that was transferred from turf to a fast main track. The Phil Schoenthal trainee raced 5 1/2 furlongs under Forest Boyce in 1:05.13, earning $12,000 for owners Rashid's Thoroughbred Racing and Kingdom Bloodstock.

Kingdom Bloodstock purchased the filly at Fasig-Tipton's Midlantic December Mixed and Horses of Racing Age Sale last year for $8,000 from the consignment of her breeder, Morgan's Ford Farm. The Virginia-bred is the first winner of three foals of racing age from her dam, the Macho Uno mare Make Waves, who also has a Tiznow yearling filly and foaled a Seattle Serenade colt this year.

Tamarkuz, a 10-year-old son of Speightstown , won the 2016 Las Vegas Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1) over Gun Runner  in his final start for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin after winning multiple stakes in Dubai the previous year for trainer Musabah Al Muhairi. Tamarkuz stood for $10,000 this year at Shadwell Farm near Lexington. Shadwell raced him over most of his 20-race career, which included placings in the Priority One Jets Forego Stakes (G1) and Kelso Handicap (G2).
