Imperial Hint Will Enter Stud at Clear Creek Stud

The multimillionaire son of Imperialism won four grade 1 stakes.

Chad B. Harmon

Four-time grade 1 winner Imperial Hint  will enter stud at Clear Creek Stud near Folsom, La., the farm announced Sept. 18.

The 7-year-old son of Imperialism won seven graded races and placed in four graded/group stakes. His performances at the highest level included consecutive wins in the 2018-19 editions of the Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap (G1) and Vosburgh Stakes (G1). In the 2019 Vanderbilt Handicap, he set a six-furlong Saratoga Race Course record of 1:07.92 and won by four lengths over Diamond Oops and eventual champion male sprinter Mitole .

Racing for owner Raymond Mamone and trainer Luis Carvajal Jr., Imperial Hint compiled a 14-2-4 record out of 25 starts from 3 to 7 and earned $2,209,055.

Shade Tree Thoroughbreds bred Imperial Hint in Florida out of the winning Lahint mare Royal Hint, who is a half sister to stakes-placed winner Bernie's Gold (Hunting Hard). The immediate family also has produced stakes winner and stakes producer Ray's Gift, the dam of graded-placed winner Stormy Ray, who set a course record of 1:50.45 going 1 1/8 miles at Monmouth Park.

Imperial Hint will be syndicated with shares available that grant shareholders seven breedings in his first four years at stud plus bonus seasons during subsequent years. Shareholders also will participate in both stallion awards and stud fees from excess seasons sold. Imperial Hint will stand the 2021 breeding season for a fee of $2,500 payable Sept. 1.
