With no dog in the fight for the Nov. 5 Longines Breeders' Cup Classic (G1), Aidan O'Brien nevertheless tackled a question Nov. 1 that everyone is asking everyone these days around Keeneland: What do you think of Flightline ?
The Ballydoyle trainer gave an unabashed response in his admiration of the undefeated Tapit colt, who was installed as the 3-5 choice on the morning line for the marquee race of the World Championships.
"Ah sure, listen, he looks incredible, doesn't he? We're looking forward to seeing him (in person)," O'Brien said. "He's the horse that we all look forward to watching on the telly. A horse doing what he does, the horse is just out of this world, isn't it?"
O'Brien would know a thing or two about otherworldly contenders, having won 13 Breeders' Cup races, including a record six editions of the Longines Breeders' Cup Turf (G1T). His last Breeders' Cup win came in 2020 with Order of Australia in the FanDuel Breeders' Cup Mile (G1T), who ran out a 73-1 shocker and led a 1-2-3 finish for O'Brien in the race. The son of Australia is back to contest this year's Mile.
The other O'Brien contenders are Broome and Stone Age for the Turf, Toy and Tuesday for the Maker's Mark Filly & Mare Turf (G1T), Victoria Road for the Juvenile Turf (G1T), and Meditate for the Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1T). The Ballydoyle string cleared quarantine Tuesday morning and went for a jog around the main track.
