Morris Floyd

Morris "Morry" Floyd, who owned Fairway Farm near Lexington, has died. Floyd was 86.

An attorney who followed his late father, William H. Floyd, into racing and breeding, Morris Floyd, alone or in partnership, bred more than a dozen stakes winners including grade 3 winners Nile Delta and Trouble Kid.

Born Nov. 6, 1936, Morris Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, William H. and Barrie Briggs Floyd, and his brother, William Barrow (Bill) Floyd. A graduate of Culver Academies, Princeton University, and a 1961 graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Law, Floyd actively practiced law for 61 years, initially as an assistant attorney general for the Commonwealth of Kentucky and thereafter in private practice until his death.

Floyd was first and foremost an accomplished horseman, nurturing and pursuing his lifelong passion—Thoroughbreds.
