TERF Awards $5,000 in Scholarships to Wilson College

This year's scholarship recipient is Adrianna "Andie" Swanson of Kersey, PA.

The Thoroughbred Education and Research Foundation (TERF) is pleased to award Wilson College $5,000 to be used for scholarship support. Wilson College's mission is to empower students through an engaged, collaborative, liberal arts education which combines the skills and study needed for success in work and life. Through a close, supportive community that develops the mind and character of all students, Wilson College prepares students to meet the challenges of a global society.

This year's scholarship recipient is Adrianna "Andie" Swanson of Kersey, PA. Andie has been around horses her entire life. She is a triplet and her two sisters also attend Wilson College and ride. Andie is expected to graduate in 2023 with a major in Equestrian Studies and a concentration in teaching and training. Just recently, Andie got her second off-the-track thoroughbred and will be using her in a training class at Wilson College. Andie is so excited to see what is in store for herself and her thoroughbred.

TERF awards scholarships consistent with its mission of promoting equine education and research by sponsoring scholarships in veterinary medicine and supporting organizations that are educating the public in the proper care of horses. The Board of Directors of TERF meticulously selects grant recipients in a competitive grantmaking process in the spring. Since 2015, 23 students at Wilson College have been awarded TERF scholarships to continue their education, totaling $82,000 in scholarship awards to Wilson College students.

TERF's grants reflect the values set forth by founders Herb and Ellen Moelis. TERF's current Board includes co-Chairs Kathleen Anderson DVM and James Orsini DVM, Margaret H. Duprey, Gretchen and Roy Jackson, Ellen Moelis, Wendy Moon, Anita Motion, Toni Orsini, Scott Palmer VMD, Josh Pons, Lucy Zungailia, Katelyn Jackson, and Lynn Cassimeris, Ph.D.
