$127,000 Bolt d'Oro Filly Tops Keeneland's Session 10

Choctaw Racing acquired a filly by Bolt d'Oro  for $127,000 to record the highest price of session 10 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, Sept. 21. Consigned by Paramount Sales as Hip 3590, the filly is out of the Tale of the Cat mare Tigress Tale and a half sister to stakes winner Empress Tigress

During Thursday's session Keeneland sold a total of 294 yearlings of the 340 through the ring for gross receipts of $9,408,500, at an average price of $32,002 and a median of $25,000. The 46 yearlings who failed to meet their reserve represent a 13.5% RNA rate.

The gross is down 9.5% from last year's $10,395,500 when 311 horses sold of the 353 to go under the hammer. The average decreased 4.5% from $33,426 in 2022, while the median remains the same. An RNA rate of 11.9% represents the 42 yearlings who failed to sell during last year's tenth session.

Taylor Made Sales Agency was the leading consignor Thursday with sales of $795,000 for 25 horses, at an average price of $31,800. Calumet Farm made five purchases at an average of $78,000 and a $390,000 gross to be the Day 10 leading buyer.

Cumulatively, a total of 2,512 yearlings have sold of the 3,048 on offer for a gross of $402,191,200, good for an average of $160,108 and a median of $85,000. To date, 536 yearlings have failed to change hands to represent an RNA rate of 18%.

The gross is 2.6% below the same period last year when 2,601 horses sold of the 3,084 to go under the hammer for receipts of $412,655,500. An average price of $158,652 and a median of $85,000 was recorded. The 483 yearlings who failed to attain their reserve represent an RNA rate of 15.7%.  

Antony Beck's Gainesway has sold 137 yearlings for a gross of $43,573,000, at an average of $318,051 per head to be the sale's leading consignor. The partnership of SF/Starlight/Madaket have purchased 20 horses through agent Donato Lanni for gross receipts of $12,590,000 at an average of $629,500 per horse to be the leading buyer.

Selling from Book 6 begins Sept. 22 with Hips 3612-3914 heading through the sales pavilion, beginning at 10 a.m. ET. As of Thursday evening 91 yearlings had been withdrawn from the 11th session. The sale concludes Sept. 23 with the final session of Book 6.
