The JS Company Broodmare Sale has cataloged 202 mares and fillies for the Oct. 25 sale held at Shizunai.

The catalog features 14 mares and fillies by deceased sire Deep Impact, the likely 2023 Champion Broodmare Sire for Japan, as he is leading the ranks thus far.

The 4-year-old mare Pink Lioness, by Deep Impact, consigned by Makoto Kaneko Holdings as Hip 33, is being sold in foal to Bricks and Mortar, 2019 Horse of the Year in the United States. The sire's first crop are 2-year-olds of this year, and he currently sits third among the JRA's freshman sires.

Another remarkable entry, Seaneen Girl, is consigned as Hip 6 by Shadai Farm. The 13-year-old mare is a winner of the Golden Rod Stakes (G2) and Monmouth Oaks (G3). She sells in foal to Orfevre, sire of 2023 Dubai World Cup (G1) winner Ushba Tesoro and Marche Lorraine Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1) captress of 2021.

The sale is drawing much attention as the place to find grade-1-producing mares at a reasonable price. Ravarino, the dam of Jack d'Or (JPN) winner of the Osaka Hai (G1) in April, was purchased in 2015 for ¥2,100,000 (approx. US$14,055), and Mariage, the dam of unbeaten 2023 Triple Crown winner Mick Fire was traded in 2018 for ¥3,000,000 ($20,079).
