Expectations are high for Hip 365, the Tiz the Law  filly who worked a quarter-mile in a track record-tying :20 1/5 at the Ocala Breeders' Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training.

But even had the filly not worked that quickly, consignor Tom McCrocklin said she still would be viewed as a rare prospect when she enters the ring in Ocala, Fla., April 17.

"(The time) is not as important to me as it is to the buyers," McCrocklin said. "It's impressive and indicative of her ability. She is a statistical outlier.

"At the end of the day I want to see them move well and have a professional breeze. The beauty of this filly is that it's effortless."

Tiz the Law won five graded stakes in 2019-20, including the Champagne Stakes (G1), Florida Derby (G1), Belmont Stakes (G1), and Travers Stakes (G1). Hip 365 is a member of his first crop of 2-year-olds.

Bred in Kentucky by China Horse Club, Hip 365 is the third foal out of the stakes-placed Sky Mesa  mare Moonlight Sky, who is a full sister to grade 3 winner Sky Girl and a half sister to 2017 Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner Abel Tasman. Moonlight Sky's first foal—the Quality Road  mare Urban—finished second in the 2022 Sweet Life Stakes (G3T) at Santa Anita Park.

McCrocklin bought the Tiz the Law filly for $170,000 at the 2023 Keeneland September Yearling Sale from the consignment of Highgate Sales. He said she looked very similar as a yearling to how she looks now.

"She is a strong, very masculine filly. There is nothing feminine about her," McCrocklin said. "She is perfectly balanced, a really athletic type, but she's not a girl. She's a tomboy.

"When we buy them as yearlings, we don't know what we have. But when we started asking the difficult questions, she showed extreme talent. That is what she showed at the breeze show."

Hip 365 galloped out three furlongs in :31 3/5 and four furlongs in :44 4/5, according to McCrocklin.

"They are putting more emphasis on gallop-outs than ever," McCrocklin said. "Everybody has clockers, everybody has data here. It's metrics. They're buying these equine athletes much like they are in professional sports."

McCrocklin said she had clean vetting as a yearling and that it has held up at age 2. Between her under tack performance, pedigree, conformation, and walk, McCrocklin sees an elite profile.

"She's very advanced mentally, and it's not hard for her. I can't train that. It's just God-given," McCrocklin said. "You'll find a handful of horses out of 1,200 in here that can do what she's done. She's what we strive for—the superior equine athlete.

"She's got everything. She is a rare filly."
