MyRacehorse's Preakness Stakes (G1) winner Seize the Grey returned to the work tab May 29 for the first and only time before competing in the $2 million Belmont Stakes (G1) at Saratoga Race Course June 8.

With 10 days before the final jewel of the Triple Crown, Seize the Grey stepped on the Churchill Downs track at 5:30 a.m. ET. With jockey Jaime Torres aboard, the son of Arrogate recorded six furlongs in 1:13.

"I thought it was very, very professional. Just a solid work," said Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas.

Lukas reported that Seize the Grey galloped out in 1:26 for seven furlongs.

"He galloped out strongly," Lukas said. "He was full of himself doing it. He enjoyed it. That's what you look for, that energy."

The Belmont Stakes will be Seize the Grey's third start in five weeks and fifth start in 11 weeks. Yet, he seems to be thriving on the workload.

"I couldn't be more pleased the way he's responded to what we're trying to do," Lukas said. "He really has done well (with the number of races). He's done remarkably well in that area."

Lukas said the next week will include fine tuning the colt for his attempt to become the first horse to capture two jewels of the Triple Crown since Justify  took all three in 2018. Seize the Grey will depart for Saratoga June 1 and arrive in the evening.
