Bob and Tyree Wolesensky have purchased Holy Bull Stakes (G2) and Wood Memorial Stakes (G2) winner Irish War Cry  from Northview Stallion Station. He will stand the 2025 breeding season at their Leadem Farm near Leola, Ark., for an advertised fee of $2,500.

Irish War Cry is less than a month removed from his biggest day as a sire on Maryland Million Day, when his 3-year-old colt Celtic Contender won the Maryland Million Sprint Stakes and his 4-year-old daughter Spencerian ran third in the Maryland Million Distaff Stakes.

In 2023, Irish War Cry was the co-third-leading sire by 2-year-old winners and was third on the second-crop sire list in the Mid-Atlantic region.

A stakes winner at ages 2, 3, and 4, the son of Curlin  started his career undefeated through his first three starts, which included a score in the 2017 Holy Bull Stakes. Later in his 3-year-old campaign, he landed the Wood Memorial and finished a game second to Tapwrit  in the Belmont Stakes (G1). As a 4-year-old, he captured the Pimlico Special Stakes (G3). He retired with earnings of $1,257,060.

"He checks all our boxes here and we couldn't be more excited to bring such an accomplished son of Curlin , from such a strong Danzig female family line," said Bob Wolesensky.

Irish War Cry will join American Freedom  and Super Stock on the Leadem stallion roster.

Jay Goodwin, who brokered the deal, said: "David Wade and Bob Wolesensky are two of the nicest people in the horse business. I love working with both of them. I'm excited to breed a couple of mares to Irish War Cry myself."
