Fenton Forever blew past two milestones Nov. 18 at Parx Racing by winning his debut and becoming the first winner for his sire, Pat On the Back.
The Desmond Wynter homebred made his first start in a 1 1/16-mile maiden special weight for Pennsylvania-breds and ran like a pro. He broke on top and immediately got pressed down the backstretch. Jockey Jorge Vargas Jr. asked for more at the top of the stretch and the chestnut colt responded by drawing away to win by 3 1/2 lengths. Fenton Forever is trained by J. Tyler Servis.
Wynter bred Fenton Forever out of the winning Cat Thief mare Fairy Gray, who has now produced three winners from three starters. She also is the dam of stakes-placed winner Gray Lightning (Social Inclusion). The immediate family includes grade 1-placed, 2002 Cotillion Handicap (G2) winner Smok'n Frolic and 2012 Canadian champion older horse Hunters Bay.
Pat On the Back is an eight-time stakes winner and millionaire by Congrats. Racing for Harold Lerner, AWC Stables, and Nehoc Stables, he earned graded status after winning the 2019 Kelso Handicap (G2) over multiple graded stakes winner Prince Lucky. Pat On the Back compiled a 9-4-6 record from 30 career starts racing from 2 to 6 and earned $1,144,545.
Pat On the Back stood this year at Bonner Hill Farms near Littlestown, Pa., for $3,500.
