With the success of KESSAAR, fresh from an excellent first season of Italian breeding and strong of a particularly significant production in Italy (above all Melfi, winner of the Premio Parioli), Renew Italian Breeding announces important news: the acquisition of INNS OF COURT.
Both stallions will have a fee of €6,000. Their respective studs are yet to be defined: they will be those of the Razza dell'Orso in Tuoro sul Trasimeno (Perugia) and Alessandro Antonini in Tivoli (Rome).
Inns of Court is only the most recent of many operations concluded with important foreign studs by Mattia Cadrobbi, administrator of Renew Italian Breeding, and Marco Bozzi and Guido Berardelli, responsible for commercial management, after those that in recent years brought to Italy Requinto in 2020, Magician in 2021, Cappella Sansevero and Ruler of the World in 2022, El Kabeir and Morpheus in 2023 and Kessaar in 2024.
INNS OF COURT
Inns of Court is the new stallion 2025 that Renew Italian Breeding will propose to Italian breeders. Born in 2014 and bred by Darley Stud, with the prestigious Godolphin jacket he had an excellent racing career in France from 1000 to 1600 meters, obtaining a "personal best" of 118 Racing Post Racing and 54 valeur France Galop. Entered the stud in 2020, he has already distinguished himself excellently on the tracks and at European auctions with the first years of production.
RACING CAREER - Trained by Andre Fabre, Inns of Court had 7 wins (1000 to 1400 metres) and 7 placings in 18 races from 2 to 5 years, with earnings of €567,500, showing consistency of form and versatility from short distances up to the mile. In particular he won pattern races as 3, 4 and 5-y-o: 1st in Prix du Palais Royal (gr.3, 1400 m) and Prix de la Porte Maillot (gr.3, 1400 m) in 2017, in Prix de Ris Orangis (gr.3, 1200 m) in 2018, and also in Prix du Gros Chene (gr.2, m. 1000) in 2019. He also won Prix Servanne (L, m. 1200) and placed 2nd in Prix Jacques Le Marois (gr.1, m. 1600), Prix de la Foret (gr.1, m. 1400), Prix du Palais Royal (gr.3, m. 1400), Prix de la Porte Maillot (gr.3, m. 1400) and Prix de Ris Orangis (gr.3, m. 1200), 3rd in Prix du Pin (gr.3, m. 1400), 4th in Prix Seine et Oise (gr.3, m. 1200).
STUD CAREER - Covering in Ireland at the Tally-Ho Stud, where he also had 170 mares in a breeding season with a high fertility rate, Inns of Court has distinguished himself with 86 winners of 138 races from 1000 to 2000 metres in 12 countries (Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Spain and USA) with his first two years of production, earning $1,817,471. In 2023 he ranked 5th in the Top Ten of European 1st crop stallions, in 2024 he is currently 8th among European 2nd crop stallions, specially with excellent results obtained this year by Anshoda (1st Prestige Stakes, gr.3; 2nd Star Stakes, L), The Strikin Viking (2nd Richmond Stakes, gr.2; 2nd Railway Stakes, gr.2) and Mighty Eriu (2nd Queen Mary Stakes, gr.2).
In Europe he stood out also with Ziggy's Dream (1st Pr. AT SALES - In three years of European sales, from 2022 to 2024, Inns of Court progeny has sold for an average of £22,581 and a median of £13,650. The top price was €220,000 paid at the 2023 Goffs Orby Yearling Sale for Kyoto, an unraced colt by Hanalei Memories currently in training by Andrew Balding. In the recent 2024 Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale, the 2-y-o Thebelmontgangster sold for 200,000gns. In Italy, a yearling by Karimah was purchased for €34,000 at the 2024 SGA yearling sale.
FAMILY - Inns of Court's sire is Invincible Spirit, a top sprinter in racing career (Sprint Cup, gr.1; Duke of York Stakes, gr.3; Boland Stakes, gr.3) and above all a top sire in stud career, where he produced 76 pattern winners, 22 of which scored in group 1. Invincible Spirit also established himself as the sire of important stallions such as Kingman and Territories, and also Cable Bay, Charm Spirit, Eqtidaar, Lawman, Magna Grecia, Mayson, Shalaa, National Defense, Profitable, Vale of York, Zebedee.
The female line has been particularly illustrious with Lune d'Or, Fierement and Luth Enchantee. The maternal grandfather is Seeking The Gold, 2000 champion sire and 2009 champion broodmare sire in the USA.
KESSAAR
A young stallion (born in 2016), Kessaar ran in Ireland at Tally Ho Stud from 2019 to 2023 before moving to Italy. In his first three years of production, he achieved important results with 56 winners of 118 races from 1200 to 2400 meters in 12 countries (Bahrain, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Qatar and USA) for £1.685.543.
It is above all in Italy that he has distinguished himself significantly, as the sire of the best 2-y-o colt in both 2023 (Melfi) and 2024 (Bridge Ashi Kun), as well as with a high number of winners. Ranging across auctions of all kinds, the absolute peak was the 175,000gns paid for Thanks Forever, at 2-y-o, at the 2023 Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale.
Purchased for 100,000gns at the 2017 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, Kessaar ran only at 2 with 3 wins and 2 placings in 7 races for £98,187 in winnings, establishing himself in England as one of the best exponents of his generation (1st Mill Reef Stakes, gr.2; 1st Sirenia Stakes, gr.3; 4th Criterium International, gr.1), with the peculiarity of having won in both grass and all-weather pattern races.
His sire is Kodiac, who has produced 49 pattern winners (among them the Group 1 winners Babouche, Best Solution, Campanelle, El Bodegon, Fairyland, Good Guess, Hello Youmzain and Tiggy Wiggy) and another 54 stakes winners, and overall more than 1,100 winners. Kodiac is also an excellent stallion sire, including Adaay, Ardad, Coulsty, Hello Youmzain, Kodi Bear, Nando Parrado, Prince of Lir and True Valour. Kessaar's American-style dam line (the grandfather is Raven's Pass) has also been illustrated with Gone Astray, Lady Milagro, Inside Information and Smuggler.
