Daredevil , the grade 1-winning son of More Than Ready who sired a pair of high-profile grade 1 winners in his first crop, has been returned to Turkey, the Jockey Club of Turkey reported Dec. 6. He will stand at Izmit Stallion Station.
The 12-year-old stallion had been standing at Lane's End near Versailles, Ky., since 2021. Daredevil entered stud at WinStar Farm and then was sold to the Jockey Club of Turkey in 2019. During his one season in Turkey, his daughters Shedaresthedevil and Swiss Skydiver were lighting up tote boards across the United States. Shedaresthdevil won the 2020 Kentucky Oaks (G1) and two other graded stakes, while Swiss Skydiver captured the Preakness Stakes (G1) and Alabama Stakes (G1) and was named champion 3-year-old filly.
The Jockey Club of Turkey did not want to sell Daredevil but recognized the opportunity back in the U.S. and sent him to Lane's End.
To date, Daredevil has sired nine black-type winners and two champions, which include Haengbok Wangja, who was Korea's 2021 Horse of the Year, champion stayer, and champion older horse. Daredevil's only Turkish-bred crop includes Look At The Star, who was runner-up in the Turkish Oaks this year. His other top performers include grade 1-placed, multiple stakes winner Esplanande; 2022 Sorority Stakes winner Vedareo; and, stakes-placed winner Electric Ride, who was runner-up in the 2021 Chandelier Stakes (G2).
Daredevil has sired 142 winners as of Dec. 6 and his progeny have earned nearly $17 million.
