The National Turf Writers and Broadcasters are pleased to announce the organization will support a record five internships at various horse racing media outlets in 2025. After receiving more applications for funding assistance than ever, the NTWAB's internship committee will award matching grants to Agentes 305, BloodHorse, Paulick Report, Daily Racing Form, and ESPN Louisville.
The NTWAB began offering financial support to media outlets' internships in 2023 to help offset budget cuts at print, digital, and broadcast media outlets that had reduced internship opportunities in recent years.
In total, the NTWAB has committed up to $10,000 in funds toward supporting the 2025 internships.
"I think I speak for the whole committee when I say we're proud to help support educational opportunities for the next generation of turf writers and broadcasters," said Natalie Voss, chairperson of the NTWAB internship committee. "Many of us had a formative experience in an internship program early in our career, either during school or after."
ESPN Louisville has plans to use its stipend to allow for on-site travel and coverage for an existing intern, who will also assist with its Horse Racing Happy Hour podcast. BloodHorse and Daily Racing Form plan to offer internships in the summer of 2025. Internship timeframes at Agentes 305 and Paulick Report are to be determined.
NTWAB will assist supported outlets in publicizing job application links for internships when they become available. Potential interns and companies interested in participating in future years can monitor the NTWAB website and social media for more details.
