WinStar Farm stallion and multiple grade 1 winner Country Grammer sired his first reported foal Feb. 1 when a colt out of the Bernardini mare Bernarda was born at River Valley Stock Farm in New York. The colt was bred by Dr. Scott and Debbie Pierce, who also bred Country Grammer, the third-leading North American-based earner of all time. The colt's dam is out of the stakes-winning and grade 1-placed Nakano, by First Samurai.
"We are very impressed with our Country Grammer colt," said Scott Pierce. "He is quite attractive, correct, and has a great shoulder and hip. He is very athletic like his sire. We couldn't be any happier with our first Country Grammer foal."
Campaigned during the latter half of his career by Commonwealth Thoroughbreds, WinStar Farm, and Zedan Racing Stables, and trained by Bob Baffert, Country Grammer amassed $14,921,320 in earnings during his racing career. A graded stakes winner at ages 3, 4, and 5, Country Grammer proved a resounding winner of the $12 million Dubai World Cup (G1) in 2022, defeating grade 1 winners Hot Rod Charlie and Life Is Good .
Country Grammer is by 2014 Belmont Stakes (G1) winner Tonalist and is out of the winning Forestry mare Arabian Song. He is a half brother to stakes winner and multiple graded stakes-placed Joyful Cadence, and descends from the family of 2022 grade 1 winner Obligatory, group 1 stakes winner Etoile Montante, and multiple graded stakes winners Starformer and Bonny South.
Country Grammer stands the 2025 breeding season for $5,000 stands and nurses.
