The Horseracing Integrity and Welfare Unit has sanctioned Tampa Bay Downs-based trainer Scooter Davis after one of his horses tested positive for the corticosteroid dexamethasone after a March 15 race at the track.
In posting the resolved case to its web site April 17, HIWU, the enforcement arm of the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority, reported that Uncaptured Star tested positive for dexamethasone (or one of its metabolites) after winning that March 15 claiming race at Tampa Bay Downs. Uncaptured Star was disqualified from that race, and, as Davis also owns the horse, he'll forfeit the $10,850 in purse money that will be redistributed.
Davis was suspended for seven days beginning April 18, fined $1,000, and assigned 1.5 penalty points.
