Golden Sixty, who was crowned Hong Kong Horse of the Year in three consecutive seasons, has moved from the quarantine stable to barn three in the public area at Northern Horse Park. Horse racing fans will be able to meet him there, starting May 10.
Australian-bred Golden Sixty, by Medaglia d'Oro , was bought by Francis Lui at New Zealand Bloodstock's Ready to Run Sale of 2-Year-Olds in 2017 for NZ$300,000 (approx. US$210,000 at exchange rate of sales day). He won 26 of his 31 starts, including 10 grade 1 races, and earned HK$167,170,600 (approx. US$21.5 million) for Stanley Chan Ka Leung.
Due to quarantine regulations, Golden Sixty was shipped from Hong Kong to Australia where he stayed for two months before he arrived at Northern Horse Park in Hokkaido, Japan Feb. 9 when the ground was covered with snow. Golden Sixty had never seen snow before, and the Hong Kong legend was bewildered by his new surroundings. Golden Sixty has since gotten used to the environment in Hokkaido and is enjoying his life at Northern Horse Park, which is now surrounded by greenery.
Also at Northern Horse Park is 34-year-old Wind in Her Hair, winner of the 1995 Aral Pokal (G1) in Germany and dam of Japanese legend Deep Impact, who is also enjoying her pensioned life.
