Due to anticipated wet weather, the Penn Mile Stakes (G3T) and three other scheduled turf races, which were carded for May 30 at Penn National Race Course, have been postponed three weeks until June 20. The other affected stakes include the Penn Oaks, Alphabet Soup Handicap, and Lyphard Stakes.
Significant rain fell in the area May 28, and more is expected throughout the week, including Friday evening, which could have resulted in off-the-grass conditions.
Penn National will proceed with racing Friday with seven overnight dirt races. First post time remains 5 p.m. PT. Racing will also be held the evening of May 29 with an all-dirt card.
Larry Collmus, the voice of NBC Sports' Kentucky Derby (G1), Preakness Stakes (G1), and Breeders' Cup coverage, will still be the special guest race caller for the four turf stakes rescheduled for June 20.
Horses entered in those four stakes are automatically renominated to their respective stakes races to be run June 20. Additional nominations will be accepted until June 11. Entries for the entire June 20 card will be drawn June 13.
