Grade 1 winner Mindframe will stand at Claiborne Farm near Paris, Ky., upon retirement, the farm announced June 1st.
The 4-year-old colt by Constitution has earned $1,292,160 to date for trainer Todd Pletcher and owners Repole Stable and St. Elias Stables.
"Mindframe is the kind of rare talent that has the ability to be a breed-shaping stallion," said Claiborne President Walker Hancock. "He has been brilliant in every start, he is versatile from seven to 10 furlongs, and is battle-tested against the very best of his class. His pedigree, physical presence, and proven ability at the highest level make him an exceptional addition to our stallion roster. We are thrilled to welcome him to Claiborne!"
A $600,000 2022 Keeneland September Sale purchase, Mindframe crushed the field in his debut, winning a maiden special weight at Gulfstream Park by a resounding 13 3/4 lengths, earning a 103 Beyer Speed Figure. In his next start, he once again decimated the competition with a 7 1/2-length score in allowance company on Kentucky Derby Day at Churchill Downs.
Following these two dominant performances, Mindframe stepped up to graded stakes competition in the Belmont Stakes (G1). There he came from five wide to finish runner-up to Dornoch by just a half-length, while defeating Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) winner and champion Sierra Leone, Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Mystik Dan, and Preakness Stakes (G1) winner Seize the Grey .
In the Haskell Stakes (G1), despite stumbling at the start, Mindframe clawed back to take the lead in the final turn. Going four wide, he dueled rival Dornoch down the stretch, dug in gamely and came up second best, well ahead of grade 1 winner Timberlake .
Mindframe returned in good form to begin his 2025 campaign, scoring a victory in the Gulfstream Park Mile Stakes (G2). From there, he captured the $1,000,000 Churchill Downs Stakes (G1) on the Kentucky Derby undercard, defeating a host of graded stakes winners, including grade 1 winners Book'em Danno and Mullikin.
"He's such a versatile horse," said Pletcher. "From just missing last year in the Belmont and now winning a grade 1 going seven-eighths. It just shows how special of a horse he is."
"I've always believed Mindframe was a special colt, capable of winning from six furlongs to a mile and a quarter," said co-owner Mike Repole. "We are honored to be able to partner with Claiborne, a historic and iconic farm. There is no better place for a horse of his caliber to begin his next chapter than Claiborne. Their legacy in shaping the breed is second to none, and we're excited for what the future holds. Because we believe in Mindframe, Vinnie (Viola) and I have stayed in for a significant share and will be supporting him with top-class mares."
Bred in Maryland by Larry Johnson, Mindframe is out of the stakes-winning Street Sense mare Walk of Stars. She is the dam of four to race, all winners, including multiple stakes-placed Hollywood Walk. She is half sister to three stakes horses, including Strike the Moon, a multiple stakes winner and four times graded stakes placed.
