Fasig-Tipton has cataloged 222 selected yearlings for the 104th The Saratoga Sale, Fasig-Tipton's select yearling sale, to be held Aug. 4-5, in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Sessions will begin each evening at 6:30 p.m. ET in the Humphrey S. Finney Sales Pavilion.
"We have assembled another outstanding group of yearlings for Saratoga, the type of quality that buyers expect to find at the number one ranked yearling sale by percentage of grade 1 winners," said Fasig-Tipton president and CEO Boyd Browning.
The Saratoga sale is once again the top-ranked major North American yearling sale by percentage of grade 1 winners and graded stakes winners, according to statistics from BloodHorse MarketWatch.
The sale has produced six individual grade 1 winners in the last year. Recent sales graduates include 2024 Eclipse champion 3-year-old male and Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) winner Sierra Leone; Journalism, winner of this year's Preakness Stakes (G1); 2024 Preakness and Pennsylvania Derby (G1) winner Seize the Grey ; Florida Derby (G1) winner Tappan Street; 2024 Stephen Foster Stakes (G1) winner Kingsbarns ; and 2024 Natalma Stakes (G1T) winner And One More Time.
The sale also has the distinction of producing the last three Preakness Stakes winners in Journalism, Seize the Grey, and National Treasure (2023).
In addition to success at the grade 1 level, Saratoga has produced 11 additional individual graded stakes winners in the last 12 months in Ballerina d'Oro, Barnes, Battle of Normandy, Clicquot, Hall of Fame, Hope Road, Integration, Major Dude, Owen Almighty, Rocket Can, and Ticker Tape Home.
"The depth of quality found at Saratoga is second to none," Browning said. "From catalogs of just 200 or more yearlings, Saratoga has produced six individual grade 1 winners in the last year as well as three consecutive Preakness winners."
The catalog may now be viewed online, and will also be available via the Equineline sales catalog app. Print catalogs are now available from all Fasig-Tipton offices.
