The Maryland Horse Breeders Association membership has elected four returning, and one new member, to the 2025 Board of Directors. Dictated by MHBA bylaws, the annually held election fills five open seats on the board. Those elected will serve for the next three years.
Returning to the board, after having served in the past, are Richard F. Blue Jr., Christine Holden, Grace Merryman and Kent Allen Murray. Garrett Murray joins the Board for the first time.
Richard F. Blue Jr.: Owner of Blue & Obrecht Realty LLC and a resident of Baltimore County, Blue first served on the board in 2001 and was last on in 2021 when MHBA president.
Christine Holden: General manager of Country Life and Merryland Farms, Holden will begin her third three-year term after first being elected in 2018. She was vice-president of the association from 2021 through 2023.
Grace Merryman: Owner, with husband Louis Merryman, of Anchor & Hope Farm in Cecil County, Merryman will serve her second consecutive three-year term.
Kent Allen Murray: A program manager for Northrop Grumman Corporation, Murray grew up on his family's Murmur Farm in Darlington in Harford County where he performed all duties associated with farm life. He serves his fourth three-year term on the board, and has been MHBA president since 2022.
Garrett Murray: Farm manager for family-owned Atlanta Hall Farm in Harford County since 2010, Murray was a former yearling and stallion manager at Castleton Lyons Farm and farm manager and sales at Coolmore America in Kentucky. He has been on the Maryland Steeplechase Association Board of Directors since 2014.
The five join current directors William K. Boniface, Brooke Bowman, Henry "Tim" Clark, Charles Fenwick Jr., Lisa Golden Hofstetter, Michael Horning, Josh Pons, Phil Schoenthal, Thomas Rooney, and David Wade.
The MHBA thanks Amy Burk and T.K. Kuegler, who are going off of the Board, for their service over the years.
