Due to extreme heat conditions in the area, Prairie Meadows Racetrack in Altoona, Iowa, has moved the July 28 race card to July 31 with a scheduled post time of 6 p.m. CT.
According to the track, the decision was made in collaboration with Iowa Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association, Iowa Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association, Iowa Quarter Horse Racing Association, Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission, and American Quarter Horse Association.
Trials for the Prairie Meadows Derby Challenge originally scheduled for July 28 will now be moved as drawn to July 31 with the 10 fastest qualifiers competing in the final Aug. 17.
