Following his victory in the Juddmonte International Stakes (G1), Godolphin's Ombudsman is now the highest-rated horse in the latest Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings covering racing performances in 2025 through Sept. 7. He is rated at 128, just ahead of Field of Gold, Forever Young, and Sovereignty, all of whom are tied for second with ratings of 127.

Ombudsman defeated Delacroix (126) by 3 1/2 lengths at York, and in doing so, had his rating elevated from 127. Earlier this year, Ombudsman won the Prince of Wales's Stakes (G1) at Royal Ascot by two lengths over Anmaat, who is rated at 123.

Meanwhile, Sovereignty made short work of his rivals in the Travers Stakes (G1) and pulled away to win by 10 lengths. As a result of that effort, he raised his rating to 127 from 125. Sovereignty's other victories this year have come in the Kentucky Derby (G1), Belmont Stakes (G1), Jim Dandy Stakes (G2), and the Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2).

Fierceness (125) is now tied for eighth after his score in the Pacific Classic Stakes (G1). He defeated Journalism (120) by 3 1/4 lengths, while Journalism was 6 1/2 lengths in front of the next competitor in a race that had a key scratch when Nysos was withdrawn. Earlier this season, Fierceness won the Alysheba Stakes (G2) and finished second in the Metropolitan Handicap (G1).

The World's Best Racehorse Rankings are compiled by the Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings Committee and published by the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities. The full rankings are online.
