Heading into its seventh year, the Fasig-Tipton California Fall Yearling Sale has not only produced a long line of stakes winners, this year's catalog includes half siblings to several of those runners. The sale, which has a full complement of California-breds, is slated for Sept. 23 at Fairplex in Pomona beginning at 11 a.m. PT with 266 cataloged.

Three years ago, Mike Repole bought Pushiness at the sale from leading California breeder Barton Thoroughbreds. The California-bred filly has been well worth her $115,000 price, with current earnings of $386,426 and a recent victory in the Daisycutter Handicap at Del Mar.

Barton will bring another large group to this year's sale, including Hip 255, a half sister to Pushiness by Bodexpress . The filly is out of the stakes-placed Empire Maker mare Imperial Pippin. Another Barton offering is Hip 193, a daughter of first-crop sire Corniche . She is a half sister to stakes winner Carmelita's Man, who was bred by Richard Barton Enterprises and Robert Traynor.

"We are pleased to present a great group of yearlings to the public again," said Kate Barton Penner, Barton's executive vice president. "There are Cal-breds being offered in the first crop of Kentucky sires such as Corniche, Cyberknife, Early Voting, Happy Saver, Mo Donegal, Nashville, Olympiad, and Speaker's Corner."

California sires are also well represented in the catalog. Terry Lovingier's Lovacres Ranch has a large consignment, with several yearlings by perennial leading California sire Stay Thirsty , who stood the 2025 season at Lovacres for an advertised fee of $10,000. Hip 221, a colt by Stay Thirsty out of the mare Discreet Dee, is among the highlights. The Discreet Cat mare has already produced two stakes winners by Stay Thirsty—Thirsty John and Rock N Rye, both graduates of the Fasig-Tipton California sale.

Another attractive Lovacres offering is Hip 20, a California-bred son of Maxfield  out of the mare Lost Bus, who was a graded stakes winner and the California-bred champion older female in 2016. She is the dam of stakes winner Bus Buzz, a daughter of Stay Thirsty and a Fasig-Tipton California sale graduate.

One of California's newest stallions with yearlings in the catalog is Eight Rings , whose first foals are yearlings. His offspring include Hip 97 from Adrian Gonzalez's Checkmate Thoroughbreds. The colt is out of the stakes-winning Grazen mare September Secret.

The late John Harris' Harris Farms will again offer a large group of yearlings, mainly by the farm's stallions. Their group includes several by Om , whose daughter Om N Joy is currently on a five-race winning streak, most recently capturing the Torrey Pines Stakes (G3) at Del Mar.

Two of the Harris Om youngsters of note are Hip 184 and Hip 262. The first is a son of the stakes-winning Go for Gin mare Bootleg Annie and a half brother to stakes winner Blackjack Cat. The second is a son of the stakes-winning Exchange Rate mare Justenufappeal and a half brother to stakes winner Dancing Kiki.

Stormy Hull's Critter Creek Farm will offer Paddock Buzz (Hip 67), a daughter of leading California sire Grazen out of the Unbridled's Song mare Open Mic. Paddock Buzz is a half sister to stakes winner Opening Buzz and stakes-placed No Cover Charge.

Sue Greene's Woodbridge Farm brings the only offspring of Practical Joke , Hip 256, a California-bred filly out of the unraced Speightstown mare Inny Valley. The second dam is graded stakes winner Bryan's Jewel.
