Cobb had appealed a two-year animal abuse suspension given by track stewards.

In a ruling posted this week on the Delaware Thoroughbred Racing Commission website, the DTRC reduced a suspension to owner/trainer Amber Cobb to 60 days for improper or inhumane treatment of an animal.

Delaware Park stewards issued Cobb a two-year suspension May 21 for "cruelty to a horse in her care," finding the "fitness of Ms. Cobb is not consistent with the best interests of racing in Delaware." Cobb appealed the decision to the commission and was granted a stay, during which she continued to train horses at Delaware Park.

The ruling did not state the name of the referenced horse or the circumstances of the alleged incident.

A message left for Cobb for comment was not immediately returned.

Under the terms of the amended suspension, established after a hearing before the commission July 14, Cobb must attend an anger management program approved by track stewards. Completion of the program is a requirement for reinstatement.

Her suspension dates are July 23 to Sept. 20, the ruling stated.

According to Sarah Crane, executive director of the DTRC, if Cobb appeals the Delaware commission ruling it "would go to a higher court."

A trainer since 2013, Cobb has won 83 races from 870 starts with her horses making $1.35 million. She last ran horses July 21 at Delaware Park.
