After first going on the market in 2017, Adena Springs Farm, the iconic Paris, Ky., Thoroughbred farm headed by Frank Stronach, is back up for sale, according to the Dallas, Texas-based real estate firm Icon Global.

A key component of Stronach's internationally renowned breeding and training business, Adena Springs Farm served as a cornerstone to the company's formerly integrated breeding and training operations across North America. Stronach purchased the land in 2005 and built a state-of-the-art facility on the 2,300-acre property that opened in 2007, capable of handling over 1,000 horses.

"We are delighted to make this early campaign announcement on behalf of our client, The Stronach Group, and are truly honored and privileged to be able to do so at this year's Fasig-Tipton illustrious Night of the Stars November Sale event," said Icon Global's Bernard Uechtritz. "The Adena Springs contributions, records, awards, and innovations to the Thoroughbred racing industry internationally are incredible and, in some cases, unsurpassed in the annuals of modern racing history.

The latest placing of Adena Springs on the market follows the 2020 settlement of litigation between Stronach and his daughter, Belinda Stronach. Under that agreement, Belinda continues in her leadership role of The Stronach Group, which owns racetracks and betting companies. Her father and his wife Elfriede, through their own personal entity, lead the Thoroughbred stallion and breeding business, including farm operations.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reported that Adena Springs was only previously on the market for a few months, with Uechtritz telling the paper that Stronach, 89, is now downsizing his breeding operation. Stronach is a six-time Eclipse Award-winning breeder (2000, 2004-08) and a four-time Eclipse Award-winning owner (1998-2000, 2008).

Adena Springs is one of the two largest farms of its kind within one fence in the Lexington area, the other being WinStar Farms near Versailles, according to the release.

Famous horses raised from birth at Adena Springs include Awesome Again, Macho Uno, and Ghostzapper , who would later stand at Adena Springs, along with other successful horses such as El Prado. The farm also bred and sold horses, including such standouts as Game On Dude and Judy the Beauty.

Last year, two of the farm's pensioned stallions, Awesome Again and Milwaukee Brew, joined Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement Farm in Georgetown, Ky.

The Icon Global release pitched the multifaceted infrastructure of the complex, which it said can be converted to any equestrian discipline showplace, a horse park, or even a co-op operation with central amenities. The farm also can be subdivided into several smaller tracts for cohesive or separate ownerships and access.

Icon Global said it would be offering the property in several parcels and custom parcel combinations.
