Three Echoes became the first winner for Ashford Stud's freshman sire and grade 1 winner Echo Town  after capturing a five-furlong maiden special weight by three-quarters of a length May 24 at Churchill Downs.

Vossfeld Bloodstock bred the chestnut colt out of Bayou Miss, a winning daughter of Dixie Union. The mare is out of stakes winner Jaramar Rain, making her  a half sister to three stakes-placed winners—Imperial Council (Empire Maker), Minesave (Mineshaft ), and Monopolize (Bernardini). Bayou Miss has now produced five winners. She has a yearling colt by Beau Liam  and was bred this year to Volatile .

Three Echoes made his racing debut May 24 with trainer Steve Asmussen for L and N Racing. Ridden by Keith Asmussen, the colt slipped through a narrow seam along the rail and prevailed in a battle against Charlie Tolu. The final time was :58.09.

L and N Racing bought the colt for $130,000 out of the Ocala Breeders' March Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training from the De Meric Sales consignment.

Echo Town is a 7-year-old son of the late champion sprinter Speightstown and was raced by L and N Racing and Asmussen. Campaigned only at 3, he won the H. Allen Jerkens Stakes (G1), was second in the Woody Stephens Stakes (G1), and third in the Phoenix Stakes (G2). He was retired with a 4-2-2 record from 10 starts and earned $410,020.

Echo Town stands at Ashford for $5,000.
