Gainesway's freshman sire McKinzie  sired his first winner when his daughter Jamila Maf won a six-furlong race for 2-year-old fillies June 8 at Krasnodar Hippodrome in Russia.

McKinzie, a four-time grade 1 winner by Street Sense , is the second North American freshman sire this year to have his first winner surface in Russia. Ashford Stud's Maximum Security  scored his first winner May 18 at Pavolvskiy Hippodrome where his son Monarh Bars won at first asking for Barsuk T.L. Farm.

Kubashichev A.S. campaigns Jamila Maf with trainer Artur Pshizov. Don Alberto bred the filly out of the multiple Argentine group winner Giant Remex, a daughter of Giant's Causeway who has also produced group 3-placed stakes winner Renio Joy. Jamila Maf was sold to Olga Polushkina for $12,000 during the 2023 Keeneland September Yearling Sale out of Denali Stud's consignment. Giant Remex has a yearling filly by Street Sense.

Polushkina also bought Monarh Bars out of the Keeneland September sale for $40,000 from Warrendale Sales' consignment. The colt was bred in Kentucky by Hartmut H. Malluche and Silesia Farm out of the winning Curlin  mare Curlin N Twirlin. The mare, who has already produced four winners, is a half sister to grade 2-placed winner Wacky for Love (Gold Fever) and stakes-placed winner Missgallopinggulch (Gulch). Curlin N Twirlin has a yearling colt by Authentic .

Maximum Security soon had a second debut winner when his Irish-bred daughter Rosa Salvaje won the Prix Allee d'Amour at Saint-Cloud Racecourse June 4 in France. Bred by Yeguada Centurion out of the stakes-placed Malibu Moon mare Idle Hour, the filly sold for $81,662 during the Arqana Deauville August Yearling Sale to Frederic Sauque. Rosa Salvaje is owned by Ecurie Francky Defosse and Sauque, et al. She is trained by Christopher Head.

McKinzie raced from 2 to 5, capturing a grade 1 victory each season from 2 to 4 and taking the 2020 Triple Bend Stakes (G2) at 5. For his career, he won seven graded stakes that included the 2017 Los Alamitos Futurity (G1), 2018 Pennsylvania Derby (G1), 2018 Malibu Stakes (G1), 2019 Alysheba Stakes (G1), and 2019 Whitney Stakes (G1). Racing for longtime partners Mike Pegram, Karl Watson, and Paul Weitman and trained by Bob Baffert, McKinzie compiled an 8-6-0 record from 18 starts and earned $3,473,360.

At this year's 2-year-olds in training sales, McKinzie has been represented by 33 sold for an average of $185,621 so far. He has had three colts sell for more than $700,000, topped by a $750,000 colt out of Breech Inlet at the Ocala Breeders' March 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale and one for $700,136 during the Arqana May Breeze-Up Sale.

McKinzie stands at Gainesway in Lexington for $30,000.
