Lone Warrior won a maiden special weight race for Louisiana-breds June 29 at Evangeline Downs to give freshman stallion Lone Sailor his first winner as a sire.

Norman Stables' Lone Warrior was making his second lifetime start for trainer Lonnie Briley. The 2-year-old colt pressed the pace from his rail post position, initially in second place, before edging to clear in the lane to win by two lengths. Final time for five furlongs on a fast dirt track was 1:00.16.

Lone Warrior is out of the stakes-winning Cactus Ridge mare Yucca and is a half to multiple Oklahoma stakes winner Dont Tell Noobody, by Cyber Secret. Norman Stables purchased Lone Warrior for $30,000 at the 2023 Breeders Sales of Louisiana Yearling and Mixed Sale. Lone Warrior was the most expensive yearling from Lone Sailor's first crop to sell at public auction. He was bred in Louisiana by Jim and Natalie Montgomery.

Lone Sailor, by Majestic Warrior, won the 2018 Oklahoma Derby (G3) at Remington Park. He won three times in a 27-race career that saw him earn $1,278,587 for G M B Racing and trainer Tom Amoss. Lone Sailor placed in three grade 1 races and hit the board a total 11 times in black-type stakes.

Lone Sailor is out of the placed Mr. Greeley mare Ambitious. His second dam is the grade 1-winning Storm Cat mare Aldiza, dam of grade 3 winner Altesse, by A.P. Indy.

Lone Sailor stands at Red River Farms near Coushatta, La. His 2024 stud fee was $2,000.
