Quite the Catch rallied determinedly to win the $75,000 Louisiana Cup Juvenile Fillies Stakes by a neck Aug. 31 at Louisiana Downs and give Red River Farms' stallion Requite his first stakes winner.
Quite the Catch, a 2-year-old filly out of the winning Tale of the Cat mare Exceedexpectations, won for the second time in three starts. She has earned $69,600 for owner Nicholas James Latour. Quite the Catch was bred in Louisiana by Brandon Adcock.
With rider Jose Rodriguez up, Quite the Catch was last of nine early in the 5 1/2-furlong race. She was still 12 lengths behind after three furlongs but she ran by them all in the lane for the dramatic win. Final time for 5 1/2 furlongs over a muddy, sealed track was 1:06.63.
Quite the Catch paid $40.80 to win. She was trained by Nicholas Latour.
Requite, a 12-year-old horse by Warrior's Reward, raced from 2014-17, winning five of nine starts and earning $252,510 for owner Limestone Thoroughbreds and trainer George Weaver. He won two stakes at Gulfstream Park and finished second in the 2015 Amsterdam Stakes (G2) at Saratoga Race Course.
Requite is out of the stakes-placed Carson City mare New Hope Seven. He entered stud in 2019. Requite's 2024 stud fee at Red River Farms near Coushatta, La., was $1,500.
