Misseliofwar hesitated at the start and was briefly last in her debut Sept. 13 at the Belmont at the Big A meet, but the 2-year-old filly came running when it mattered, breaking her maiden to give freshman stallion Fog of War his first winner.
Fog of War won the 2018 Summer Stakes (G1T) at Woodbine for owner Peter M. Brant and trainer Chad Brown. The son of War Front retired to Questroyal/Hidden Lake Farm in Stillwater, N.Y., where he began stud duty in 2021 as property of Brant's White Birch Farm and Three C Stables. His 2024 stud fee was $3,500 at Hidden Lake.
Hidden Lake bred Misseliofwar in New York, out of the winning Grand Reward mare Awesome Reward. Owner Birbal's Racing Stable purchased Misseliofwar for $1,500 at the Ocala Breeders' June 2-Year-Olds and Horses of Racing Age Sale.
The filly was ridden by Dylan Davis in her debut in the $40,000 maiden claiming affair for New York-bred juvenile fillies. After dropping 11 lengths off the pace early, Davis asked her for her run with three furlongs to go and angled five-wide. She ran by them all to prevail by 1 3/4 lengths. Trained by Emron Ibrahim, she paid $61 to win.
Final time for six furlongs on the dirt was 1:16.64. The dirt track was rated fast, but had produced fairly slow times all day Friday.
Fog of War was a $400,000 Keeneland September Yearling Sale buy. He is out of the group 3-winning Galileo mare Say and has two stakes-winning full brothers.
