With the Breeders' Cup at Del Mar now just two weeks out, a slew of prospects worked Oct. 19 at Santa Anita Park including five for trainer Phil D'Amato.

D'Amato's quintet on the tab included Iron Man Cal (Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf, G1T), Thought Process (Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, G1T) and Che Evasora (Breeders' Cup Distaff, G1). Following the works, D'Amato confirmed all three would be pre-entered in the Breeders' Cup. He remains undecided on if his other two workers, One Magic Philly (Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint, G1) and Vodka With a Twist (Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies, G1), will go on to the Breeders' Cup.

One Magic Philly, winner of the Chillingworth Stakes (G3) Oct. 5 at Santa Anita, worked four furlongs in :49 3/5. The 3-year-old Good Magic  filly is a homebred for John Gallegos. Vodka With a Twist, second in the Del Mar Debutante Stakes (G1) last out Sept. 7, worked six furlongs in 1:15 1/5. The Thousand Words  filly is owned by Medallion Racing, Omar Aldabbagh, and William Strauss.

"I still need to discuss it with the owners," D'Amato said of the Breeders' Cup plans for One Magic Philly and Vodka With a Twist.

Iron Man Cal, who won the Zuma Beach Stakes (G3T) via disqualification Oct. 6 at Santa Anita, worked four furlongs in :49. Thought Process, winner of both the Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf Stakes and Surfer Girl Stakes (G3T) at Santa Anita, worked four furlongs in :49 4/5.

Rounding out D'Amato's workers was Che Evasora, who went six furlongs in 1:15 4/5. Che Evasora, an import from Argentina, finished last in the Zenyatta Stakes (G2) when making her United States debut Sept. 29 at Santa Anita. The 6-year-old mare by Greenspring owns an automatic berth into the Distaff earned when winning a 1 1/4-mile Criadores (G1) in Argentina in May.

Working six furlongs on the synthetic training track for Hall of Fame trainer Richard Mandella was Goliad, who completed the move in a sharp 1:11 3/5. Goliad is a candidate for the Breeders' Cup Mile (G1T). Last month when shipping to Kentucky Downs, Goliad won two races in a span of seven days including the Mint Millions Stakes (G3T) Sept. 7.

Trainer John Sadler worked a pair of Breeders' Cup prospects, Kirstenbosch and Supa Speed. Kirstenbosch, a candidate for the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint, worked four furlongs in :48 2/5. Fifth in last year's Filly & Mare Sprint at Santa Anita, Kirstenbosch most recently returned from an eight-month layoff and finished third in the Chillingworth.

Supa Speed, targeting the Juvenile Fillies Turf, worked five furlongs in 1:01 2/5. The Louisiana-bred daughter of Justify  most recently was second in the Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf Sept. 7.

Working towards expected starts in the Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) were Raging Torrent, The Chosen Vron and Straight No Chaser.

Davis and Great Friends Stables' Raging Torrent and Antonio Fresu, right, caught heavily favored  The Chosen Vron (Hector I. Berrios up)  in mid-stretch and held him off to win the Grade II $250,000 Pat O'Brien Stakes Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club, Del Mar, CA. Benoit Photo

Raging Torrent, winner of the Pat O'Brien Stakes (G2) Aug. 24 at Del Mar, fired a bullet when going five furlongs from the gate in :59 for trainer Doug O'Neill.

The Chosen Vron, fifth in last year's Breeders' Cup Sprint, worked four furlongs in :48 4/5. Trained and co-owned by Eric Kruljac, the millionaire California-bred most recently was beaten a neck by Raging Torrent in the Pat O'Brien.

Straight No Chaser, a scintillating winner of the Santa Anita Sprint Championship Stakes (G2) Sept. 29, worked five furlongs in 1:00 2/5 for trainer Dan Blacker.
