HISA Video Explains Shield Indicator for Eligibility

A red shield means the horse cannot breeze or race.

In speaking with trainers throughout the region, we have heard concerns about not being able to ascertain whether a horse has been cleared to breeze or race on the HISA portal.

HISA has posted an informational video that explains the difference between the green and red shields located next to a horse's name on the portal.

  • A shield that is all green indicates the horse is clear to breeze and race.
  • A red shield means the horse cannot breeze or race.
  • A shield that is green on top and red on the bottom indicates that a horse can breeze, but cannot race.
