Grade 1 winner Promises Fulfilled  was represented by his first stakes winner Nov. 17 when Runnin On Promises won the $54,500 Gold Rush Futurity at Arapahoe Park.

The 2-year-old filly set quick fractions in her gate-to-wire victory under jockey Jose Medina, winning by 2 3/4 lengths while completing six furlongs in 1:12.51. Owned by Kevin Waggoner and trained by Stetson Ruston, Runnin On Promises is 2-0-2 from seven starts for earnings of $54,230. She was bred in Kentucky by Del Secco DCS Racing.

Promises Fulfilled was bred in Kentucky by David Jacobs and was purchased by trainer Dale Romans, as agent for owner Robert Baron, for $37,000 at the 2016 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. By the end of his career, he won seven of 17 starts for earnings of $1,455,530.

Grade 2 placed at 2, the son of Shackleford won the 1 1/16-mile Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) in his 3-year-old debut, qualifying him for the Kentucky Derby (G1) where he'd set the pace and fade to 15th.

Promises Fulfilled flourished in sprints for the remainder of the season. After finishing third in the Woody Stephens Stakes (G1), he rolled off three consecutive victories in the Amsterdam Stakes (G3), H. Allen Jerkens Stakes (G1), and Phoenix Stakes (G2) before finishing fourth in the Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1).

At 4, Promises Fulfilled won the John A. Nerud Stakes (G2) and placed in the Churchill Downs Stakes (G1).

WinStar Farm, who co-owned the horse for his final two starts, will stand the stallion for a $5,000 fee during the 2025 season.
