The Sporting Art Auction, a distinguished partnership between Cross Gate Gallery of Lexington and Keeneland, concluded its 12th edition by achieving total sales of $2,553,126. The auction was headlined by the sale of LeRoy Neiman's "To the Wire," a signed oil on board which brought an auction-record price of $334,875.

Held at Keeneland's Sales Pavilion Nov. 15, the event drew collectors from seven countries who participated both in person and remotely. Spanning sporting art, American paintings, and sculpture, 75% of the 203 pieces offered were sold.

"We are thrilled with the result of this year's Sporting Art Auction," said Catherine Ladd Kenneally of Cross Gate Gallery. "The international participation through the online platforms was incredible and really a first for us. As the Sporting Art Auction continues to flourish, we are grateful for our partnership with Keeneland and the community's continued support."

In addition to the record-breaking "To the Wire," six other works by LeRoy Neiman drew strong interest, including "Sax Man," an oil on board that sold for $146,875. Equally captivating were the works of Polish-American artist Andre Pater. His oil on canvas "When Bargaining Gets Tight" realized $105,750, while "To the Winner's Circle," another oil on canvas, brought $99,875. Pater's pastel piece, "Two Young Hounds," further impressed with a final price of $64,625.

"The energy at this year's Sporting Art Auction was palpable," said Keeneland president and CEO Shannon Arvin. "It was exciting to see so many art lovers and collectors gather in our pavilion, sharing their enthusiasm and passion. This auction holds a distinctive place on our fall calendar, and we're thrilled to see its reach and participation grow each year."

Keeneland continues its commitment to philanthropy, with its share of auction proceeds going to support non-profit initiatives.
