Grade 1 winner Nadal is leading the table of first-season sires at the Japan Racing Association with total progeny earnings of ¥264,614,000 (approx. US$1,736,619) through Dec. 13. By Blame , Nadal is ranked fourth in 2-year-old sires, and Saturnalia by Lord Kanaloa, who is also first-season sire, is ranked fifth with total progeny earnings of ¥246,367,000 (approx. US$1,602,866).

An undefeated winner of the 2020 Arkansas Derby (G1) by three lengths, Nadal was one of the leaders on the Road to the 146th running of the Kentucky Derby (G1). However, he suffered a condylar fracture of his left foreleg during morning track work at Santa Anita Park following the Arkansas Derby and retired before the Covid-19 pandemic-delayed Kentucky Derby, which took place the first Saturday in September that year.

Nadal started to stand at Shadai Stallion Station in 2021 with a fee of ¥4 million (approx. US$26,312). Through Dec. 13, Nadal has had 55 runners at the JRA and 26 of them are winners, winning 29 races in total. Nadal's first crop has won 26 times on dirt and three times on turf. In contrast, Saturnalia has had 22 winners who won 23 races in total with only three on the dirt.

Shadai Corporation, which manages stallions standing at Shadai Stallion Station, has announced that Nadal's fee will raise to ¥10 million (approx. US$64,927) for the 2025 season.
