Pleasant Acres Stallions reports the first foal for Chess Chief —a flashy filly with a lot of leg—out of Dear Mama Mia, a winning daughter of Chitu. Born Feb. 12, the filly is owned by Gail Caban.
"Our first Chess Chief filly is exceptional. Her size, substance, and strength are all very correct and she moves effortlessly," said director of stallion services Christine Jones. "Just as we expected, Chess Chief is giving us total class and quality! We are thrilled to welcome her!"
The foal's first dam, Florida-bred Dear Mama Mia, was a winner at 2. Her second dam, R Crown Royalty, is by Wildcat Heir and was a winner at 3. R Crown Royalty is the dam of three foals, three to race, and three to win.
Chess Chief was named the 2021 Virginia-bred Horse of the Year in 2021 thanks to victories in the 2021 New Orleans Classic Stakes (G2) and Tenacious Stakes at Fair Ground Race Course & Slots.
