Three-time group 1 winner Zougotcha will provide buyers with a rare opportunity when she goes under the hammer at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast next month.

Zougotcha managed eight wins and two second placings from 18 starts on the track—including landing the 2022 Flight Stakes (G1) and both the Coolmore Classic (G1) and Queen Of The Turf (G1) in 2024—amassing AU$2,685,000 in prize money.

While her trio of group 1 victories—alongside other stakes wins in the 2022 Silver Shadow Stakes (G2), 2022 Tea Rose Stakes (G2), 2023 Phar Lap Stakes (G2), and 2024 Millie Fox Stakes (G2)—stand as obvious highlights, one of Zougotcha's most memorable performances may have come in defeat.

In the 2024 Winx Stakes (G1), she was narrowly denied victory in a photo finish, splitting weight-for-age stars Via Sistina and Fangirl—a performance that underlined her place among the top-rated mares in the world.

Zougotcha is out of a stakes-performed daughter of Fastnet Rock, Fast Talker, who herself is out of a stakes-winning half sister to 2010 Golden Slipper (G1) winner Crystal Lily.

"We thank the connections of Zougotcha for entrusting Magic Millions to offer their superstar to a global audience," Magic Millions managing director Barry Bowditch said.

"A triple group 1 winner and eight-time winner from just 18 starts, Zougotcha danced every dance and raced against the finest of her generation.

"Her race record, impeccable pedigree, and good looks make Zougotcha one of the finest prospects to go to market anywhere in the world in 2025."

New International Virtual Section of Sale

Meanwhile, Magic Millions also announced April 2 that the broodmare sale will include a new international section, an initiative which will allow quality race fillies and broodmares who are located internationally to be presented at auction.

Overseas-based entries will be offered virtually following the last cataloged lot on the opening day of the sale following the race fillies and mares.

Te Akau's David Ellis had success when offering Imperatriz virtually at the same sale last year with the mare going on to make AU$6.6 million (approx. US$4.3 million).

Ellis has thrown his support behind the initiative confirming the syndicate will offer three outstanding types including group 1 winner Campioness, while fellow New Zealand elite-level winner Babylon Baby will also be offered during this section of the auction.

Te Akau will also sell group 2 winner and group 1 place-getter Wolverine, and the stakes-placed winner Millefiori—a half sister to recent elite-level winner Gringotts during the new section.

"The new international section to the National Broodmare Sale will see lots abroad offered to the strongest buying bench in the Southern Hemisphere," Bowditch said.

"It will combine both the live and online sale buying benches for stock, increasing overall visibility and competition. We'll be working closely with participating vendors to ensure we have high-quality photos, parade videos, and comprehensive catalog details to instill buyer confidence.

"While having mares on-site remains the preferred method to drive top results, this initiative offers a strong alternative when that's not possible," Bowditch added.
