Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (French One Thousand Guineas, G1) runner-up Shes Perfect may have run her last race of the season after suffering a setback.

The Basher Watts Racing-owned 3-year-old daughter of Sioux Nation was being prepared by trainer Charlie Fellowes to run in Ascot's Valiant Stakes (G3) July 26 or the Oak Tree Stakes (G3) during the Glorious Goodwood race meeting.

However, Shes Perfect, who was last seen finishing ninth in last month's Prix de Diane (French Oaks, G1), will not take up either engagement.

In a statement on the social media platform known as X, Watts posted: "Unfortunately, Shes Perfect has had a setback and won't be running at the end of this month.

"Gutted not to see our superstar back on track doing what she loves, but she's okay, which is the main thing. Had we run in the Falmouth last Friday, it could've been a different story so I'm thanking my lucky stars."

Watts claimed to have turned down a £2.2 million offer for his syndicate's filly from Japan after she finished first past the post in the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches.

The stewards reversed the placings with Shes Perfect and Zarigana in that French classic due to interference and a subsequent appeal, which would have provided Fellowes with a first group 1 win, against that verdict failed.

A return to Longchamp, where Shes Perfect was also second to Zarigana on her reappearance in April, for the Prix de l'Opera (G1) on Arc day would be the potential autumn target in October.

Watts added: "There's a chance we see her at the end of this season; if not, we wrap her up and have another rollercoaster of a season next year!"
