Gary Barber's No Time flew home to take the $500,000 Woodbine Oaks July 20, to give trainer Mark Casse his fifth win in the race, tying trainer Jim Day's record. Her two stablemates—Shifty and Winterberry finished second and third, respectively.

The 3-year-old daughter of Not This Time  stalked the pacesetters under Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez, rating off fractions of :22.97, :46.47, 1;10.97, and 1:36.94 before taking command at the eighth pole and drawing away to win by 3 3/4 lengths in a final time of 1:50.14.

"We know it's going to be a lot of pace in the race, so I wanted to see how it developed and developed in front of us," said Velazquez, who won his first Oaks. "She held her ground pretty well going to the first turn. So, kind of held it there. By the time she got to the backstretch, she switched and got a little bit on the bridle a little sooner than I wanted to. So, I kind of give and take a little bit. By the time we got to the half-mile pole, I just kind of kept it nice and easy.

"I didn't want to make a premature move, but let her do whatever she was doing, easy at the same time the quarter pole came, and she switched on down the lane, and she gave another gear."

The Oaks serves as a prep for the King's Plate, which will be held Aug. 16 at Woodbine.

When asked about a possible chance in the King's Plate, Velazquez responded: "I think if she can do that again and relax the first part, obviously, the way she did today, I think she has a very good chance."

No Time was bred in Canada by James Everatt, Janeane Everatt, and Arika Everatt-Meeuse. She was purchased by TMC at Fasig-Tipton's Saratoga Select Yearling Sale in 2023 for $250,000.

She paid $15.50 to win while earning her third win from eight starts and improving her earnings to $324,000.

It was the 50th black-type stakes winner for Not This Time. The sire, who is an Albaugh family homebred, stood during the 2025 season at Taylor Made Stallions near Nicholasville, Ky., for $175,000. He entered stud in 2017 and has sired champions on both turf (Up to the Mark ) and dirt (Epicenter ), as well as another, Aegean Finale in Turkey.

Sedbury's Ghost wins Plate Trial Stakes at Woodbine

Sedbury's Ghost proved his worth in the $150,000 Plate Trial Stakes Sunday at Woodbine to win the 1 1/8 mile race, defeating multiple stakes winner Notorious Gangster and graded stakes-placed Scorching

The gelded son of Shaman Ghost  rated near the back of the pack before making his move near the eighth pole to win by 1 1/4 lengths in a final time of 1:50.37.

"These quality horses are like push buttons," said winning jockey Ryan Munger. "You just give them a clear run, and they give it to you. And my job as the pilot was just to get them around nice and relaxed and set them alight at the right time."

Trainer Barbara Minshall was proud of the effort from Yawen Wu's homebred.

"I kind of like the pace in a way, because I knew he'd close, and Ryan found a good trip," Minshall said. "I knew if he found clean run at the end, at top of the lane, I was really confident in him today. I have to say we were confident.

"And thought he had a little bit of a trouble trip in the Marine (Stakes)," Minshall added. "I thought he could have won that as well as any of the horses. So, I was real confident going here."

Sedbury's Ghost failed to meet his reserve as a yearling at the 2023 Canadian-Bred Yearling Sale, which worked out in the end for Wu.

"It's very exciting because it's kind of a struggle, where you have a small amount of mares," Wu said. "But now this just gave me confidence, and I'm thinking, you know, I will probably get some more."

Sedbury's Ghost now has three wins from five starts with career earnings of $153,457. He paid $16.80 to win.
