Claiborne Farm announced Nov. 6 the stud fees for the two exciting young stallions joining its roster in 2026. Multiple grade 1 winner Mindframe will stand for an initial fee of $50,000, while Johannes , a grade 1 winner by top sire Nyquist , will stand for $10,000 and is included in Claiborne's new "Breed Twice, Breed for Life" incentive program. Both fees are on a live-foal stands-and-nurses basis.
Mindframe was the only United States-based older horse to win two grade 1 races on dirt in 2025, highlighted by a victory in the Stephen Foster Stakes (G1) at Churchill Downs, where he bested 2024 champion 3-year-old male Sierra Leone , 2024 Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Mystik Dan , and Dubai World Cup (G1) winner Hit Show. He earned a career-best 118 Equibase Speed Figure in the Stephen Foster.
Owned by Mike Repole's Repole Stable and Vinnie Viola's St. Elias Stables, Mindframe's versatility was on full display during his determined victory in the 7-furlong Churchill Downs Stakes (G1), a race in which he beat eight graded stakes winners, including grade 1 winners Book'em Danno and Mullikin , and future grade 1 winner Nysos. Mindframe, a son of Constitution , is also classic-placed, finishing second by a half-length in the 2024 Belmont Stakes (G1) in just his third career start. He retired with more than $2 million in earnings.
Johannes, one of North America's top competitors on the turf, is the highest-earning son of his elite sire Nyquist . The six-time graded stakes winner retired with earnings of $1,298,359 under trainer Tim Yakteen. In total, Johannes posted nine career victories, eight of those in stakes company, and six against graded stakes competition.
A 9-length maiden special weight winner sprinting 6 furlongs in 1:08.47 as a 2-year-old at Santa Anita Park, Johannes then kicked off his sophomore campaign with dominant victories in the 2023 Baffle Stakes and Pasadena Stakes.
Johannes, a homebred for Joe and Debby McCloskey's Cuyathy LLC, jumped to another level at 4, where he started the season with a breakthrough graded victory in the 2024 American Stakes (G3T) at Santa Anita, running the mile in 1:32.08. From there, he continued to post sharp times, punctuated with a top-level victory in the Shoemaker Mile Stakes (G1T). His résumé also includes victories in the Eddie Read Stakes (G2T), City of Hope Mile Stakes (G2T) twice in 2024-25, and San Gabriel Stakes (G2T).
Breeders will have an opportunity to earn a lifetime breeding right to Johannes through Claiborne's new "Breed Twice, Breed for Life" incentive program. Owners that breed a total of two mares to Johannes during the first two breeding seasons, have two live foals, and pay two stud fees on or before the due date will earn a lifetime breeding right. Space is limited.
