Drexel Hill will jump back into graded stakes company in the Royal Delta Stakes (G3) Feb. 14 at Gulfstream Park. The race is run at 1 1/16 miles and carries a purse of $175,000.
The 4-year-old daughter of Bolt d'Oro was a 1 3/4-length winner of the Wayward Lass Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs Jan. 10. She was second in last year's Kentucky Oaks (G1) at odds of 32-1 before missing summer racing due to having a bone chip removed from one of her knees. She made her comeback Nov. 8 in the Mother Goose Stakes (G2) at Aqueduct Racetrack, where she finished second. She is trained by Whit Beckman and owned by Legion Racing.
"She's been training phenomenally," Legion Racing's Kyle Zorn said. "We're excited to see her run. Her style is coming off the pace, and there's a lot of speed in this race, so we think it's going to be real conducive to her style. We think she can lay a little closer to the pace than she did as a 3-year-old, where she was coming from the clouds. She runs her race every time."
In a salty field of eight, her main competition comes from Brian Lynch trainee Shred the Gnar. Last out, she was the winner of the Nov. 15 Chilukki Stakes (G3) at Churchill Downs. Owned by Flying Dutchmen Breeding and Racing, the daughter of Into Mischief is making the first start of her 4-year-old campaign.
Last-out Falls City Stakes (G3) winner Alpine Princess will go to post for trainer Brad Cox, and Saffie Joseph Jr.'s Dazzling Move will look to go back-to-back in this race.
The Royal Delta Stakes (G3) is the featured race on the Feb. 14 card at Gulfstream Park and goes to post at 5:20 p.m. ET.
