Repole Stable's Scalable returned to Aqueduct Racetrack March 29 to score her second stakes win of the year in the $175,000 Top Flight Stakes.
The Todd Pletcher trainee broke near the middle of the pack, settling in comfortably with Bernietakescharge showing the way through opening fractions of :24.67, :50.09, and 1:14.44. Under a confident Kendrick Carmouche, Scalable swung wide approaching the far turn and unleashed a powerful turn of foot, kicking clear to win by 1 3/4 lengths. The final time for the 1 1/8-mile race was 1:51.93.
"She just keeps inching forward," said Stu Hampson, Pletcher's Belmont Park-based assistant. "Since we stretched her out, she's done nothing wrong. We'll see what the next steps hold. We're very excited and very proud of her. She's a filly that's been around a long time, and she's definitely a barn favorite—a hard trier and a really cool horse to be around."
Carmouche, who has guided the mare to three of her victories, was in agreement about the distance.
"She loves it," Carmouche said. "My words don't speak how much she loves going the distance. She goes so easy until you just reach and push her, and all of a sudden, she's out of there. I'm so happy Todd Pletcher and Mike Repole kept this horse in training because I think she's getting better. I think the distance is a key factor for her."
Snowyte was second with Lost Horizon another 4 1/2 lengths back in third.
The 5-year-old daughter of Speightstown, who was bred by Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings, improved her career record to 6-2-2 from 17 starts, and increased her earnings to $730,378. Sunday's result was her third Aqueduct stakes win, adding to a resume that includes a victory in the 2024 Grade 3 Monmouth Oaks.
Scalable paid $5.16 to win.
